Seaforth at The London Marathon

Last Sunday 21 April 2013 saw 3 members of Ayr Seaforth run the Virgin London Marathon. In near perfect conditions Allan Watt, Ian Young & Lynsey Cooper set off on what must surely have been one of the best experiences of their running careers. All 3 completed the course with their times as follows :-

Another Seaforth athlete was running in the London Mini Marathon which is also the UK Junior Road Race Championships. That athlete was Kirstin Oakley who was selected for the Scottish u15 Road Race team. This race is run over the last 3 miles of the marathon course and teams of six runners from Scotland,Ireland,Wales and the nine English regions compete for the team title, also in the race are teams representing the 33 London Boroughs which makes for a sizeable field.The first 4 runners in each team count towards the teams points total, Kirstin was the 4th Scottish athlete home and was in 24th place overall helping her team to the bronze medal position.
