Hoka Highland Fling Saturday 27 April 2013

Last Saturday 27 April saw 3 hardy souls from the Road Race section enter the race known as The Hoka Highland Fling which is very different from the dance it may sound like. The race is held over the 53 mile stretch of Scotland’s iconic long distance
trail The West Highland Way trail, from Milngavie, a northern suburb of Glasgow
to the beautiful Village of Tyndrum in Highland Stirlingshire. Held in good,
almost perfect conditions, ‘The Fling’ as it has become known has grown to
become one of the largest ultra trail races in the UK  and this year almost 500
runners toed the start line for the early 6am start.. The 3 from Seaforth who decided to run were Kevin Bloy, Barry Duddy and David Hughes and each deserve congratulations for their efforts and excellent finishing positions especially when you take into consideration the fact that Barry and David both ran the Lochaber marathon less than 2 weeks before this race.

Their finish places were as follows :-

Kevin Bloy  89th 10hrs 20mins 41secs

Barry Duddy  108th  10hrs 31mins 00secs

David Hughes  110th  10hrs 32mins 12sec
