The Daily Record Young Athlete of the Year awards are up and running again and with the Olympics up ahead it couldn’t be a better time for our rising stars to step into the limelight.
Amongst them is Ayr Seaforth's own, Finlay Rae. The Ayr Seaforth middle distance starlet started life as a swimmer, before making the move to the track, which has meant he has also represented both Scotland and Great Britain in the triathlon. Last year the 16-year-old took gold in the 1500m steeplechase at the Scottish Schools in just three seconds shy of the Scottish U17 record and also notching a silver medal at the England Championships.

Ayr Seaforth athletes enjoyed the big stage of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh which was again the venue for arguably the most important cross country event in the world in 2012.
The race calendar featured international races which involved a host of Olympic medallists and competitors in addition to the Celtic Nations cross country races and the Scottish inter-district championships.
Seaforth had excellent representation at the inter-district competition with five athletes being selected to compete for the West District teams.
