Prospective members of Ayr Seaforth Athletic Club who are aged between 7yrs-9yrs are now required to attend the Junior Development Training sessions which will take place at Dam Park Stadium, Ayr between either 5pm-6pm or 6pm-7pm on Wednesdays.
These sessions are based around Run, Jump & Throw and focus on developing the fundamental movement skills required for running, jumping & throwing through age and skill level appropriate progressions. The sessions are tailored to suit children of all skill levels from beginners to those who have already taken part in introductory athletics programmes, holiday courses or local community competitions. This is done in a fun and active learning environment which places the focus on the enhancement of physical fitness, health & physical development for younger athletes aged between 7yrs-9yrs.
Athletes who wish to progress to a more competitive environment can do so when deemed ready for a higher level of training by the coaching coordinator. Factors which will be taken into consideration when making this decision will include their level of physical fitness; their behaviour when attending the Development Training sessions; their level of commitment to regular attendance.
Should someone attending these sessions not wish to progress to the full club training sessions they will have the facility to continue membership of the club by continuing in the Junior Development section.
Anyone who attends the Junior Development sessions and has reached 9yrs of age will still have the ability to compete for the club in the many Open meetings which take place at various locations throughout the season.
All that is needed for anyone starting is a pair of training shoes, clothing suitable for exercise and also suitable for the weather as well as a bottle of water.
