Fixtures: Seaforth are in action on Sunday at Wishaw in the first match in Division One of the Central & South of Scotland League for all age groups. Bus leaves at 10am.
Hundreds of athletes will converge on Dam Park on Sunday for the first meeting of the outdoor season.
The Ayrshire open track and field meeting is for all age groups and has attracted clubs from all over the west of Scotland.
There is a full programme of events from under 11 boys and girls through to seniors.
Entries are accepted from 10am, except hurdles which are pre entry only.
The meeting, which starts at 11.30am, is organised by Ayrshire Harriers Association, supported by South Ayrshire Council.
Ayr Seaforth's under 15 cross country star Kirstin Oakley completed the season on Saturday with a well deserved first appearance on the international stage.
The Prestwick Academy pupil competed in the SIAB Schools International race at Strathallan, contested by teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.
Each team consisted of the top eight finishers in each country's national schools' cross country competition with Kirstin gaining selection due to her Scottish triumph.
Kirstin was spiked and almost had a shoe torn off to leave her 32nd and last place at the start.
But she recovered well to finish in 14th place being the third Scot home and helping her team to the team silver.
This rounded off an excellent first season at under 15 level which has seen her take gold at west districts, silver at inter districts, bronze at the national cross country and gold at the schools' national cross country.
lThe South Ayrshire Primary relays will take place on Monday, April 30 at Dam Park.
Twenty schools have entered to take part in 4x100m and 3x600m relays for P6 and P7 boys and girls.
Ayr Seaforth star Andrew Murphy from Girvan made a fine GB junior debut in an international heptathlon event in Cardiff.
The 17-year-old from Girvan was the youngest member of the home side for the under 20 competition and faced opponents from France and Spain.
Andrew produced three personal bests in the shot, 60m sprint and 60 metres hurdles and also posted season’s best results in the long jump and 1000 metres.
He finished 10th overall from 12 athletes, beating one of his GB team-mates and posting a heptathlon personal best points total as well.
Coach Sandy Ewen said: “It was a good weekend for Andrew on his first appearance for Great Britain. He is a young talent setting personal bests in a competitive environment alongside international opponents.
“He has had a lot of school committments (Girvan Academy) and it is worth noting that he was the youngest member of the GB team. This kind of experience will stand him in good stead.”
Results: 60 metres: 7.48 (pb); 1000 metres: 2.55.02 (sb); 60 metres hurdles: 8.68 (pb); high jump: 1.87; pole vault: 3.45; long jump: 6.24 (sb); shot putt: 13.10 (pb).
Ayr Seaforth’s younger athletes had mixed results when the 2011-12 cross country season ended with the Scottish junior road race championships at Rouken Glen Park.
Kirstin Oakley (above) had an uncharacteristic below-par performance when she finished ninth in the under 15 girls race.
However, her disappointment was softened as she received her first international call-up earlier in the week.
She will represent Scottish Schools in Perthshire at the end of the month at the SIAB UK schools cross country championships.
Finlay Rae had an off day in the under 17 men’s race, dropping out after 3 kilometres with stomach problems.
However, Seaforth had some excellent performances on the day. Fraser Stirling from Girvan followed up a solid performance at the Scottish schools’ cross country championships the previous week with an excellent 13th place in the under 13 boys’ race.
The run marked a fantastic end to Fraser's first season in athletics.
Under 17 athlete Euan Webster also rounded off a great winter season with his best performance to date. He was an excellent 11th place over the 5k course.
Under 15 athletes Louisa Kelly and Andrew Black put in good shifts to take 24th and 40th place respectively.
Seaforth results: Under 13 boys: 13. Fraser Stirling 9.20; Under 15 boys: 40. Andrew Black 13.51; Under 17 men: 11. Euan Webster 16.53; Under 15 girls: 9. Kirstin Oakley 13.52; 24. Louisa Kelly 15.05.
Ayr Seaforth under 13 boys were double winners when the curtain came down at the Kelvin Sports Hall, Glasgow as a venue for indoor athletics.
Starting in October, indoor athletics competitions will move to a newly built facility in the east end of Glasgow purpose built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The under 13 boys not only won the Scottish League final but also were impressive winners of the 4 x 200 metres relay final. Only Scottish Athletics can explain why two different age groups are in operation because nobody else can.
On Sunday, two separate major athletic events were held involving Seaforth athletes: (a) the finals of the Scottish Indoor League for age group teams which qualified through three league competitions since November. (b) a 4x200 metres relay for all clubs in Scotland for all age groups.
On Sunday, the age groups reverted back to league age groups U11, U13, :U15, U17 and U20 instead of the new championship age groups introduced in 2011: U14, U16, U18 and seniors.
The significance of the league age groups on Sunday meant that Seaforth under 13 boys competed on a level playing field this time compared to the national relay championships where, as a very young team, they just missed out in the national 4x200m relay final.
Results of the six Ayr teams in the league final: U11 boys 3rd, U13 boys ‘A’ 1st, ‘B’ 4th, U15 girls 4th, U17 women 4th, U20 women 2nd.

Marr College pupil Scott is last year's Scottish under 15 high jump champion and under 15 UK indoor champion (1m75).

A group of 14 Ayr Seaforth athletes travelled to Callendar Park in Falkirk for the Scottish Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Despite there being fewer athletes competing than previous years two championship medals were brought back to Ayr. This means that Seaforth athletes have medalled at the National Cross Country Championships for 5 consecutive years now since Sarah Cassells and Finlay Rae both lifted the Under 13 titles in 2008. The first medal of the day went to Prestwick starlet Kirstin Oakley. The 13 year old current West District champion and Under 13 National Cross Country title holder from 2011 put in a gutsy and tactically perfect race to take bronze in the Under 15 girls race, narrowly missing out on 2nd place to 15 year old Central AC athlete, Kathryn Gillespie. This top notch performance rounded off an excellent cross country season where she has been on the podium at every major Scottish Cross Country event. She now looks forward to defending her Scottish Schools Cross Country title in 2 weeks time at Irvine. In the same race there were also strong performances form Lisa Rennie and Louisa Kelly. Christie Hutton was the fourth counter in the Under 15 team competition where the girls took an excellent 5th place.
The second medal of the day went to Finlay Rae who also picked up bronze in the Under 17 Men’s race. The 16 year old from Doonfoot had an outstanding race over the tough 6.4 kilometre course. After a tactical first lap his strength on the hills helped to break up the field. The last major climb with 1 kilometre to go saw him surge ahead of the field only to be overhauled in the last 500m by Giffnock North’s Neil Gourlay and then lose out on a sprint finish for silver with Max Aitchison from Victoria Park Glasgow. However, the medal marks a fantastic achievement of 4 medals from 6 outings at the National Cross Championships since he first competed as an 11 year old in 2007. The Ayrodynamic athlete’s focus will now turn to triathlon as he prepares for his first European race for Great Britain in Portugal on 31st March in the ETU European Junior Cup race which is the qualifying race for the European Championships. In the same race Troon athlete Euan Webster recorded his highest ever National Cross Country finish with an excellent 23rd position in what was a high quality field.
The Under 13 girls had to endure the worst weather of the day. Siobhan Rae and Lara Carey battled through the snow and wind to finish in 62nd and 84th place respectively. In the Under 13 Boys race all 4 athletes were competing at Falkirk for the first time. A late call off from one of the athletes sadly put the team out of medal contention. However it was Josh Wood who was the best of the debutants as he made a stunning debut at National Cross Country. In his first race in a Seaforth vest this season he finished in 15th place in a very fast 3.2 kilometre race. He was followed fairly closely by Fraser Stirling who has had an excellent first season in cross country and Ewen McLevy who has also made a big impact in his first year in the Under 13 age group. The fourth team member was Cameron Black who bravely continued and finished the race after losing a shoe with a kilometre still to run. Things got worse for the Black family as older brother Andrew had to withdraw from the Under 15 race after sustaining an ankle injury. The oldest athlete competing for Seaforth was Louise Hill Stirling in the Under 20 Women’s race. The hill running internationalist had a slightly below par performance but still finished in a creditable 14th place over 5 kilometres.
Ayr Seaforth Athletic Club have three Scottish champions following the national masters championships at the Kelvin Hall on Sunday.
Bobby Stevenson was a double winner, taking the M55 long jump with 5m 05 and the triple jump with 11m.
Gwen McFarlane won the W55 shot putt with 7m41 while Brian Whittle took the M45 high jump with a new Scottish masters record of 1m76.
Whittle had been challenged to compete in the high jump by a group of senior international athletes in East Kilbride where he coaches.
And the Seaforth honorary life member shrugged off a back problem to strike gold.

Ayr Seaforth athlete Rachel Hunter starred when she was added to the Scottish Athletic senior team for the Celtic Indoor Cup international event in Cardiff at the weekend.
Rachel, 18, competed in the senior women's shot putt, finishing second overall with an excellent 11 metres 21.
Her final throw was over 12 metres but she lost her balance and stepped out of the circle. If she had stayed in the circle and not fouled, she would have won the senior event.
The Scotland senior team won the event outright from Wales and Northern Ireland. The Cardiff fixture also included an under 20 match with England. The Scotland team finished second.
In 2011, Rachel was Scottish under 20 outdoor shot putt champion with 12m 08 and third in the Scottish senior indoor shot putt with 11m 54.

Seaforth’s under 13 girls team did not qualify for the Scottish Indoor Leaguefinal in March as was reported last week.
When the afternoon east teams were included in the final analysis, the Ayr girls finished a close seventh (37 points), two behind Airdrie.
This means that Seaforth still have six teams qualified for the final.
The Daily Record Young Athlete of the Year awards are up and running again and with the Olympics up ahead it couldn’t be a better time for our rising stars to step into the limelight.
Amongst them is Ayr Seaforth's own, Finlay Rae. The Ayr Seaforth middle distance starlet started life as a swimmer, before making the move to the track, which has meant he has also represented both Scotland and Great Britain in the triathlon. Last year the 16-year-old took gold in the 1500m steeplechase at the Scottish Schools in just three seconds shy of the Scottish U17 record and also notching a silver medal at the England Championships.

Ayr Seaforth athletes enjoyed the big stage of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh which was again the venue for arguably the most important cross country event in the world in 2012.
The race calendar featured international races which involved a host of Olympic medallists and competitors in addition to the Celtic Nations cross country races and the Scottish inter-district championships.
Seaforth had excellent representation at the inter-district competition with five athletes being selected to compete for the West District teams.
Kirstin Oakley was once again in top form. The 13-year-old Prestwick girl and current west district champion took a superb silver medal in the under 15 girls' race over the tough 4k course.
Having led and dominated for most of the race, she was overhauled in the final 100m by fellow west athlete Gwen Gilham. However, she added a team gold medal as consolation for a fabulous performance.
In the same race, Lisa Rennie continued on the comeback following illness and finished a creditable 25th.
In the under 23/senior women’s race, which also incorporated the Celtic Nations International race, Girvan athlete Louise Hill Stirling put in a fine shift in the mud to finish 37th in a very strong field.
Girvan athlete, Fraser Stirling, had an excellent debut in the under 13 boys' race, finishing a superb 15th to help west gain team victory.
Under 17 athlete Finlay Rae had quite different fortunes. His race featured both the international under 20 race as well the Celtic Nations Under 20 and Under 17 races. A very below par performance saw him finish well down the field in 53rd.
Seaforth results: Under 13 boys: 15. Fraser Stirling 13.05; Under 15 girls: 2. Kirstin Oakley 17.32; 25. Lisa Rennie 20.09. Under 17 men: 53. Finlay Rae 23.07; Under 23/senior women: 37. Louise Hill Stirling 22.32.
Crashing waves over the sea wall and sand blown into faces.
