Awards Presentation 2022

Congratulations to all of our 2022 award winners! We hope you enjoyed the evening.

Our Maureen Harrower Female Athlete of the Year trophy of course had to go to Libby White. Libby has had a remarkable twelve months having eased to first place in the Triple Jump at all national age group championships plus the School Games in Loughborough. To top the year off, Libby earned her first GB vest as she reached the final of the European U18 Championships in Jerusalem.

Alasdair Meldrum was our Glen Harrower Male Athlete of the Year following another successful year in ultra running. Alasdair, along with Mark Caldwell and Davie Jones took men’s team gold at the Scottish Ultra Trail Championships. Alasdair was 5th in his age group at the ‘Dragons Back’, referred to as “The World’s Toughest Mountain Race”. This is a six-day, multi-stage mountain race over 240 miles long. He also placed 1st in his age group at the Falkirk Ultra (33 miles) and had top ten age group placings at the West Highland Way Fling (53 miles) and West Highland Way Race (95 miles). Phew!

Ruth Kirk was one of our multiple award winners this year. Not only was she runner up as Female Club Athlete of the Year, she took first place in the Senior Women’s category at the Club Championships and was also the recipient of the Bill Beattie Trophy for Volunteer of the Year (Over 25). It was great to see Ruth recognised for her important contribution to the club.

Thank you to our sponsors for this years awards: Albion Environmental, Artisan Woodworking Co, Kyle Financial, Red Construction and GM Childminding. A special thank you goes to Colin Smith, son of Andy Smith, who donated generously to this years’ event. Colin helped the club introduce four new volunteer centred trophies last year so that we could recognise the important contribution of our coaches, officials and behind-the-scenes volunteers.
