West Districts and SUPERteams 2026

It’s been a fantastic weekend of athletics in Kilmarnock at the West District Championships and Regional SUPERteams heat which were merged together for the first time.

Starting with the U12s SUPERteams…well done to the 16 athletes who competed this morning. Everyone had lots of fun, and at the end of the competition, we had 2 teams qualify for the national final in June! We also had many first timers taking part in their first big competition.

Team B

U14s

Some U14s were following a new combined events competition format that encourages athletes to compete in 3 events. Gold, Silver and Bronze pin badges were awarded to athletes who completed 3 events and earned the qualifying points total. Well done to the following athletes:

Gold Award
Dalidh Logg

Silver Award
Riley Marshall-Watt

Bronze Award
Nicole McClymont
Molly De Sylva
Rebecca Dunne

Other highlights included Matilda Jackson finishing 1st place in the Shot Put and 2nd in Javelin and Emily Good placing 3rd fastest overall in the 200m in a time of 28.35s. Tilda’s throw of 9.46m was a big PB and looks to rank her 1st in Scotland for the Shot Put. It was also exciting to see Lewis Watson, Caelan Fulton and Ruaridh Johnson do a 1,2,3 in their 800m heat!

U16s

Our U16s went home with 12 medals over the 2 days – 3 Golds, 4 Silvers and 4 Bronze. Congratulations to all of the podium finishers!

Gold – 4
Isla Milligan – 75m Hurdles and Triple Jump
Piper Jackson – Shot Put
Findlay Ledger – Triple Jump

Isla’s time of 12.53s in the 80m Hurdles looks to have improved an U15 club record for the 80m Hurdles set way back in 1981 (subject to review).

Silver – 4
Riley Fulton – 800m
Sofia Maclean – Hammer Throw
Charlie Gillies – Hammer Throw
Sofia Maclean – Discus Throw

Bronze – 4
Alastair Sloan – Javelin
Piper Jackson – Long Jump
Mya Doolan – Hammer Throw
Isla Milligan – 300m

2nd claim member Olivia Fisher, who represents Glasgow School of Sport at these championships performed exceptionally well once again winning Gold in the 300m and the 200m. Her time of 40.97s in the 300m is faster than the published championship best performance. Again, this will be subject to review.

Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who supported the event over the 2 days. You all made the event extra special for the young athletes.
