We were back at Emirates once again for the National Indoor Open, a fantastic event for athletes of all abilities, in the exciting setting of Emirates Indoor Arena. There was an interesting mix of first timers right through to national champions and record holders. Thank you to scottishathletics and their team of amazing officials for putting on another fantastic competition! Results are on Open Track here.
Last year the club had 30 athletes registered for the same event. This year, a whopping 47 Seaforthers took part in a wide range of event from 60m sprints through to Pole Vault. A selection of photos from the event have been published by scottishathletics on their Facebook page. You can also go to Bobby Gavin’s website to purchase more photos here.
With so many athletes competing, we can’t possibly do a full roundup for every performance but here are some highlights…

U14 athlete Niamh Hamilton raced the 800m despite not feeling too great. This was her first ever competition at Emirates and although she was nervous she enjoyed the experience! I’m sure the first of many competitions for Niamh!

Charlie Gillies (U16B) has leaped (literally) right out of his comfort zone by recently taking up and competing in the Pole Vault. He had his first competition at Jumps Glasgow last week where he jumped 2.25m. On Sunday he improved his best to an impressive 2.53m and will no doubt go from strength to strength over the coming months.

Coach Craig was very proud of all of his athletes who were competing in the Shot Put. Matilda Jackson (U14G), Mya Doolan (U16G) and Emma Murray (U16G) all set new PBs, and it was great to see Piper Jackson back to her best throwing over 9m once again.

Kieran Murphy had a fantastic competition setting PBs in all 3 of his events which including lowering his 60m and 200m bests by almost half a second. Testament to the hard work Kieran continues to put into his athletics!
Well done to everyone who competed! Next up is the 3rd indoor league meeting on Sunday 25th of January, and after that we will head into the final indoor championship events of the season.
